A long time goal of our committee has been to build a bridge over the small stream that crosses the trail, just north of Windsor Street. Over 20 years ago, some Eagle scouts undertook this project and did a superb job - only to see it destroyed by vandals just days after it had been built.
We had hoped to complete this in 2007 but this project really required us to improve and stabilize the culvert on Windsor Street first.
This time we will be constructing the bridge out of steel rather than wood.
This is a big project for our small group but once we are finished this will be a significant improvement. Whenever we have any substantial amount of rainfall and any time during the Spring runoff, the trail is just about impassable.
Thanks to a few hard working volunteers, we are near completion of this bridge project! We still have some minor work to do but it is passable.
Here are some pictures that document this good work.
